1. The woman in Muslim garb on the pier was there three years ago as well. And like during our last visit, she didn't move the entire time we were in port and seemed to only glance occasionally at the embroidering work she was holding. She did take many cell phone photos of guests as they exited the ship. You can see her cell phone in hand at the ready in my posted picture.
2. The taxi dispatcher/negotiator in Bali seemed more avuncular than aggressive and seemed to be quite used to cruise ship guests. I thanked him upon our return from our beach visit, but he responded by asking if we could give him the Silver Whisper beach towels we were returning to the ship as a tip.
Now, as the sun is setting we are now sailing along the Sulawesi coast. The Indonesian island looks quite beautiful and doesn't at all seem like the place were separatists often kidnap Americans. NIce to see it so close.
